2011 was here and (almost) gone in such a flash. I know as we all age the collective years of our being zip by quicker with each moment clutching to the presentness of the time. I have loved the fast-pacedness of this year and everything that made it come alive in the big and small moments. The picnics in the park, the weddings all over the country, the trips with friends, the daily buzzing of life in the city. What do I know for sure? We maxed out in the best of ways. We said yes to all the adventures and no when we needed to reign ourselves in. We rediscovered the things that are best for us and finding a routine for our first 365+ days as mr & mrs. Our challenges have come in the form of balance finding and battling the grind of the the day to day which is always somewhat of a mountain in the husslebussle of New York. I know for certain and feel so blessed to have a support network of friends and family who listen and counsel and let loose the crazies & cry with you....because, well, even in those moments, one grows as a person. You grown in friendship and family bonds. And we grow as a couple. I remember thinking back as a teenager that by the time I was nearing 30 I would be "all grown up." Maybe we are, and surly we are itching towards that year of age. I'm all grown up in some ways but it is just the very beginning. The beginning of somethng *goooood....mm mm gooood :) January: The infamous duck hunting trip to Jacksonville, FL. Need I say more. Lee's gotten more use out of this story than any other life tale of his 29yrs. What a weekend that surely was.... February: I had my hip surgery! While I look absolutely wiped in this photo, I believe this was snapped at my first attempt to leave the apartment after 10days of being cooped up and I was insanly happy for fresh air and the nastiness that is NYC 3 days after a snow storm. In that moment snapped here, I had no clue how great this surgery would be to my overall activity level, but was super ancy to get my PT going. By August, I was back to 100% if not better. March: Sarasota to see my parents and quick trip to Tampa for Stacy's baby shower kicked off a jam packed month. It was a much needed break from the dark NYC winters. The last week of March = Park City with the Amerys! No skiing for me with the hip still recovering, but I took in the scenery and town like a ski bunny pro. What a gorgeous part of this country. April: This span of 30 days should just read Girls Night Out. Riva's bachelorette in Miami + Wexford girls escape to Vegas + KCS jets in from Jax. It was a month full of cocktail dresses, winter sunshine trips and many hilarious memories with my ladies. May: My blog was birthed into the internet on my 28th birthday after a trip to Sterling Lake, a visit to St Louis for good family times with the twins and cousin Jen's shower & bachelorette party weekend. Why can't the midwest be closer to NYC? June: Celebrating the love of friends and family for two big weddings in Sonoma and St. Louis. We biked our way through Sonoma for a few days, cherishing my favorite spot in all of the US of A. Time with each other and time with those nearest and dearest. And Lee sampling his first taste of Ted Drewes. YUM. July: Okay we are on a rollll now. July 4th kicked off in the Hamptons and ended in NYC with a delish dinner w Mike & Marlene and rooftop fireworks on the west side. Also in the heat of this month: Carbs & I successfully threw Abby a baby shower, Lee & I enjoyed some weekend BBQs in the ‘burbs, Liz & Brady got engaged AND Camp Kernion happened. WOW. August: A couples weekend at the Hoffman Family lakehouse at Candlewood and some wexford girls beach time in Avalon. Summer is officially in full swing. September: Time to get sister a wedding dress! Chicago turned out to be a whirlwind weekend where so many happy things and people collieded in the Windy City over Labor day. That weekend ended with lots of beers in Millenium Park and a full day with Sar & Matt at the Open. A rescheduling of Marlene's 60th birthday due to silly Hurricane Irene made way for a wonderful celebration in Philly in the middle of the month....with the engagement party shower hoopla beginning for the love birds Clegg in Pittsburgh! October: Oh yes, the bachelorette party to rival them all. An amazing Berkshires wedding for Ash & B and then the wedding of the sis. I DO x 2. November: Marriage is in the air! We rounded out our 2011 wedding season with the gorgeous nuptials of Linds & Bri in Arizona (with a side trip to Sedona) and those of Andrew & Irina in NYC. And then celebrated our own anniversary over Thanksgiving week in Barbados :) December: Official anniversary celebration started off with one nasty kitchen injury but nothing some wine (and a 48hr after the fact trip to the ER) couldnt fix. Our first tree as hubby & wife. And a christmas in Easton with our fabulous lil nieces who make me love the holidays even more with every Christmas squeal and smile :)
