We celebrate small victories around here alot these days. Morgan's reflux getting *somewhat* in check, a 4.5hr stretch of sleep every other night or so, or her deciding that she, in fact, is fine with taking a bottle. Little miss is able to hold her head up for a few seconds when doing adapted tummy time on my ches---this is actually me trying to burp the little squrim worm but clearly she's more interested in seeing other parts of the world (like the lamp behind me ha!) Small victories are getting us through these infant days and I would be lying to you if I said motherhood was a) a breeze b) what I expected. The lovie feelings that I have for this sweet babe overflow in those morning moments when she is happiest and content. Seeing her grow and change of course makes me proud beyond belief. But you know what? In a lot of ways we are just getting by and hanging on as best we can, letting our instincts lead the way. Having a baby who constantly wants to nap on you but also must be lulled to sleep outside on a walk (dont for a second think that I could simply walk circles in the apartment with her inthe Moby or Bjorn...she knows the difference and let's me know it!) is taxing. Feeding a wrigley bub medicine twice a day that she absolutely hates? The saddest thing ever. The cries she lets out while trying to give her the dropper of Zantac are just piercing. The constant feeling I have to reach out to other Moms and make sure that we are in fact in the same boat as they are in or once were...I simply never knew these newborn days would make me question everything! But here we are. And it's Friday. Another week and we survived;)
Today's small victories: *I did 3 loads of laundry *Wrote out a birthday card *I typed this post Taking SKr out to dinner across the street for a belated birthday meal (wine.) From 830-10pm, it's about friendship, life and reminiscing on her year.
