I had some friends from both Pittsburgh & NYC that just didn't feel the earthquake on Wednesday. No rumbling or rolling for them. Kindof missed out, kindof missed nothing special. I pretty much had the same thing happen to me last night as it relates to the Hurricane Irene hoopla (aka: the east coast's freakout of the month). I slept like a baby last night and in full power and AC. I woke up and noticed the stark silence in our bedroom (our apt faces inward and is on the corner, so essetially contained from the elements, but still....there was a hurricane outside(!). No sirens, no normal NYC noises. I literally slept through Hurricane Irene. Oops. But that's not to say it wasn't a fun hibernation station here in 7B. We organized and checked things off the apartment's stagnant to-do list (some wedding thank yous for recent gifts, deep clean of the kitchen, iPhoto book creating). From a Friday pizza feast @ Artichoke (to carb load, naturally, if we cant get to food all next week?), a Saturday spin (because if the world is ending, I want to get my butt kicked prior), and a Hollywood Diner brunch, to a simple movies-scrabble-wine-mexican feast Sat evening....Irene's forced slow down was lovely :)
